Opt-Out Scheme for Nov 2020 Exams
Due to COVID-19 still being a major issue of concern, ICAI has allowed students to take the opt-out option if any of the situations like the below arises:
(a) If a student’s report comes COVID-19 positive
(b) If a student’s family member or person they are living with is COVID-19 positive.
(c) If a student is staying in the containment zone area
Important Notes:
If you choose the opt-out option while you appear for the exams, your attempt won’t be counted, and you will have to give all the papers once again.
For example, you have given the first two exams, and now you choose the opt-out scheme. Your given exams won’t be considered and you will have to appear again in all the four exams.
Once you submit your application through the ICAI dashboard, you cannot take it back. Your candidature will be moved to the next exams. If you select the opt-out option, you can choose to give the Jan 2021 exams or May 2021 exams.
Exam Timings
Here the details of the timings of the CA Foundation Exams:

You will get 3 hours and 15 minutes for paper 1 and 2. The 15 minutes will be for question paper reading, which will start at 1:45 PM. As papers 3 and 4 are of objective type, you will get only 2 two hours to fill in your answers.
CA Foundation Application Form, Exam Fee, and Centre
The CA Foundation exam forms are given on your dashboards on the ICAI Exam website. As the Nov 2020 exams and opt-out exams are already being held, the exam forms have already been filled.
Students who have registered for May 2021 exams will have to fill the exam forms and pay the exam fee depending on their exam center. If you have chosen to opt-out from the Nov 2020 exams, you will have to fill the exam form again. But your previous exam fee will be adjusted, so you don’t have to pay it again.

The late fee for the application form is Rs. 600.
Due to the COVID-19, ICAI had to shift many exam centers. You should visit the ICAI announcements page to know if your exam center has been shifted or not.
CA Foundation Admit Card
The admit cards for any of the CA course exams are released 14 days before the exams.
ICAI released the admit cards on 1st Nov for CA Foundation Nov 2020 exams. Note that ICAI won’t send any print outs of admit cards at your address. However, you can download it from ICAI website (your dashboard).
If your exam center was shifted, you could use the same admit card issued with your old exam center. You don’t need a new admit card.
Preparation Tips for Last Few Months Before Exams
ICAI releases the CA Foundation Exam Dates around a month and a half before the exams. It is a crucial time when you know exactly how many days are left for exam preparation. It’s not the time to let nervousness set in yourself. You have to focus on exam preparation. You must follow these simple tips to stay calm and confident for your exam:
- Sort out your syllabus based on preparation level. Do only revisions of the topics you have completed. Don’t start a new topic that you haven’t learned yet.
- Download the ICAI mock test paper and previous year’s papers. Solve them and check your answers with the solution key provided by ICAI.
- Do any physical activity like exercise, jogging, or yoga for 15-30 minutes every day. You can also do any other hobby if you want. The main motive is to keep yourself away from stress.
