Overview
The Annapurna Base Camp trek is without a doubt Nepal’s most magnificent trekking location. The camp is located on a high-altitude plateau known as the Annapurna Sanctuary, which is surrounded by an arena of craggy peaks covered in snow and ice. This place has a long history of mountaineering. The world’s first ascent of a peak higher than 8000 meters began here. However, unlike the climb, the trip to this magnificent site is simple.
Annapurna Base Camp Trek guide for altitude:
A French team chose the 8091-meter-high Annapurna l as their goal in the competition for the first ascent of an 8000-meter mountain. This happened in 1950 before climbers had access to technical equipment. The hard but successful trip was commemorated in the book Annapurna by its expedition leader, Maurice Herzog.
It is a story of heroes and terror, and it is a must-read for everyone walking to Annapurna Base Camp. Many people believe that K2 or Mount Everest is the most dangerous of the 8000m peaks. It is Annapurna I, where one out of every three climbers who attempt the peak does not return. The mountain is dangerous because of the numerous avalanches that fall down its slopes regularly.
Trails connect prominent locations such as Poon Hill, Machhapuchhare Base Camp, and, of course, Annapurna Base Camp (called ABC), which is 4,130 meters above sea level. There is frequently some misunderstanding about ABC and the Annapurna Sanctuary. To clarify, ABC refers to the camp itself, and the Sanctuary refers to the geographical area surrounding the Annapurna Massif. The Annapurna Base Camp Trek and the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek are the same thing.

Best Time for Annapurna Base Camp Trekking:
The Annapurna region experiences the same hiking season as the majority of Nepal’s other mountain areas that are subject to monsoon rainfall. Trekking conditions are excellent in the Northern Hemisphere Spring before the monsoon.
It is not as chilly as winter, and rainfall is usually minimal. This time of year is obviously busier. Summer months are often damp, and visibility of the mountains is reduced due to cloud cover. The advantage of this time is that you have the trail all to yourself. Autumn is similar to spring, with one exception. The air is cleaner as a result of the monsoon rains. Then there’s the winter season. The Annapurna Base Camp hike is fantastic in the winter. The highest point is 4,130 meters, making the trek less frigid than Everest Base Camp and the Annapurna Circuit, which both exceed 5000 meters. You’re also unlikely to encounter other hikers in the highlands.

Staying in traditional villages on the Trek:
What is it like to stay in one of Nepal’s traditional villages along the trekking routes? It’s the perfect marriage of rough alpine wilderness and distinct mountain culture. When you stay in the mountain villages, you get a true sense of life in the Annapurnas. At each village, you will stay at a tea house, which is the local term for a guesthouse.
Sipping tea and taking in the daily rush and bustle of life in the Himalayas. You can visit a monastery or, if you’re lucky, one of the many Buddhist festivals in some communities. The tea shops themselves are modest, though several have been refurbished in recent years with flush toilets, hot water, and even WiFi. The delectable dhal bat, an important hiking snack in Nepal, is thankfully still available on every tea house menu. The Annapurna Base Camp Trek allows you to immerse yourself in Nepal’s mountain culture.
